Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Tell me more about how this event works!
This website serves as the hub for the 2024 2.009 Prototype Launch Event. During the event, you'll be able to watch the live webcast from this webpage and participate in a forum to send supportive messages and questions to the teams. The event program and product brochures will also be available for download. After the event, the site will host the program replay.
Q: Do I need to buy a ticket on Eventbrite if I already have a reserved seat?
A: No, if you are connected to the class (as a student, staff member, or an invited guest of a student or staff member) and already have a reserved ticket, you do not need to secure another ticket on Eventbrite. You should have gotten an email from Eventbrite with a ticket confirmation on November 25, 2024. If you have not received an email, please reach out to 2009tickets@mit.edu.
Q: How can I get a ticket if I don’t have a reserved seat?
A: For those without a reserved ticket, tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis leading up to the event on Eventbrite lottery system this year!
Q: What time should I arrive if I already have a ticket?
Check-in starts at 5:30 pm outside of Kresge where you'll get a wristband. Once you have a wristband, you'll be able to enter the auditorium when the doors open at 6:45 pm. All audience members must be seated by 7:15 pm. Please note that any arrivals after 7:15 pm will likely be deferred to the standby line, even if you have a confirmed ticket. Plan for traffic and delays!
Q: What happens if I don't get a ticket?
If you don't get a ticket, numbered standby tickets will be available at Kresge on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 5:30 pm for guests who do not have a confirmed ticket. Starting at 7:15 pm, we will use the standby tickets to determine admission order into the auditorium for filling unoccupied seats. The presentations will be streamed on monitors in Kresge’s lobby. If you are on the standby list, you are invited to watch from here, so we can quickly let you into the auditorium if a seat becomes available.
Q: What should I know if I have children under the age of 12?
Children under 12 years of age may visit MIT’s campus and attend MIT events but must be either accompanied by a parent or guardian or participating in the event. Please learn more about MIT's minor policy here.
Q: Will there be food?
Yes! We will have catered food in the Kresge lobby after the show for guests.
Q: Will there be parking?
The MIT Stata parking garage (32 Vassar St, Cambridge, MA 02139, under the Ray and Maria Stata Center) will be open for guest parking starting from 5 pm. Please allow 15-20 minutes to walk from the garage to Kresge Auditorium (48 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139). If needed, guests may take a shuttle bus to the MIT Student Center (near Kresge Auditorium) and back to the Stata Center Garage. The bus will run continuously between the Stata Center and Student Center from 5:15 - 7:30 pm and 9:00 - 11:00 pm.
Q: Will there be a live webcast?
Yes! The event will be webcast live on the prototype launch website and will begin at 7:30 pm when the event starts. There will be a replay posted on the same page shortly after the event ends.
